SVMCM 2025-26 Scheme Overview

SVMCM 2025-26 is a flagship West Bengal scholarship scheme for meritorious and economically weaker students, covering learners from Class 11, 12, UG, PG, professional, technical courses, MPhil and PhD within the state.

The scholarship is merit-cum-means based, targeting students with strong academic performance and family income up to ₹2.5 lakh per year enrolled in recognised institutions of West Bengal.

Fresh and renewal applications for the academic year 2025-26 are live on the official SVMCM portal from 28 November 2025.

SVMCM 2025-26 Eligibility Criteria

Basic Eligibility

  • Applicant must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
  • Must be enrolled in a recognised institution located within West Bengal.
  • Family’s annual income must not exceed ₹2.5 lakh.
  • Must not be receiving any other government scholarship at the time of application.

Academic Eligibility – Course-wise

  • Higher Secondary (Class 11-12) & Undergraduate courses: Minimum 60% marks in the last qualifying examination.
  • Postgraduate general courses: Minimum 53% marks in the last qualifying degree.
  • Technical/Engineering postgraduate courses (e.g., MTech): Minimum 55% marks.
  • Kanyashree K2 beneficiaries can apply for SVMCM PG under the special K3 component.

Amount is credited monthly to the student’s bank account, subject to successful verification and renewal rules.

Objective of Swami Vivekananda Scholarship

  • Support meritorious students from economically weaker families so they can continue their education without dropping out due to financial constraints.
  • Improve access to quality education across streams – arts, science, commerce, engineering, medicine and research.
  • Reduce dropout rates at critical stages and promote academic excellence by linking scholarship renewal to performance.
  • Contribute to social upliftment and empowerment in West Bengal through higher education.

How to Apply Online for SVMCM 2025-26 (Fresh)

  1. Visit the official portal: https://svmcm.wbhed.gov.in/ and click on the ‘Register’ button on the homepage.
  2. Select the appropriate category (HS, UG, PG, professional, Kanyashree K3, etc.).
  3. Choose ‘Application Type’ = Fresh Application and click ‘Apply for Fresh’, then ‘Proceed’.
  4. Fill in personal, academic and bank details carefully and upload required documents (marksheet, income certificate, domicile, bank passbook, admission receipt).
  5. For Kanyashree K3, authenticate previous Kanyashree details during registration.
  6. Submit the form; an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number – enter it to verify.
  7. After successful verification, an Applicant ID is generated and login details are sent via SMS and email along with a registration slip.
Keep the Applicant ID safe for future login, renewal and tracking of application status.

SVMCM Renewal Process & Guidelines

Online Renewal Steps

  1. Visit svmcm.wbhed.gov.in and click on ‘Applicant Login’.
  2. Login using existing Applicant ID, password and captcha code.
  3. On the dashboard, click ‘Edit Profile’ or ‘Edit Application’ to open renewal form.
  4. Update basic details, personal details and bank details (with correct IFSC so bank and branch auto-fill) and click ‘Save & Continue’.
  5. Upload all required supporting documents (latest marksheets, admission proof, etc.) in prescribed formats and sizes.
  6. After successful upload, a success message appears; click ‘Submit Application’ to finalize renewal.

Renewal Academic Criteria

  • Higher secondary and undergraduate students: at least 60% marks on average across all semesters.
  • Postgraduate students: at least 50% aggregate marks across both semesters.
  • Renewal application must be submitted within one month of admission to the next higher class/semester.

Special Guidelines

  • UG/PG students must upload semester-wise marksheets; MBBS students upload professional exam marksheets (1st, 2nd, 3rd part-1) depending on renewal year.
  • Bank details can be updated by the concerned Directorate only for valid reasons (account closure, minor to major account) and require Head of Institution approval.
  • Changes in course name, institution or admission date must be routed via SVMCM helpdesk for correction.

Documents Required for SVMCM 2025-26

  • Model proforma for Income Certificate (duly signed by competent authority).
  • Latest admission receipt of current course/class.
  • Marksheet of last Board/Council/University/College examination (both sides if applicable).
  • Scanned copy of bank passbook first page with account number and IFSC code clearly visible.
  • Domicile certificate – Aadhaar Card / Ration Card / Voter ID Card issued by competent authority in West Bengal.
  • Head of Institution declaration for any gap year (if qualifying exam year is 2023 or earlier).
  • Recent passport size photograph and signature:
    • Photo: JPG/JPEG, 20–50 KB.
    • Signature: JPG/JPEG, 10–20 KB.
  • Supporting documents (to be uploaded after form submission):
    • PDF format only, each file size up to 400 KB.
